Carmina Burana
Carmina Burana has been repurposed, remixed and reworked by the best in the business for hundreds of films and TV commercials. However, there is nothing quite like the raw power of this epic classic performed live. The wheel of fortune spins on the pleasures of lust and the perils of life in a collection of 24 medieval poems thrillingly sung by a 130-voice choir with WASO.
To open, WASO dance with the devil in UWA graduate Iain Grandage’s spectacular percussion concerto, inspired by Australian gothic stories.

The Music of Nicholas Bannan
Dr Nicholas Bannan is an accomplished international composer, conductor, music researcher and Associate Professor at the UWA Conservatorium of Music. He joined UWA from the University of Reading in 2006. He won several competitions as a composer, including the Fribourg Prize for Sacred Music in 1986, and has completed commissions for the Allegri and Grieg Quartets, the Guildhall String Ensemble, Cantemus Novum of Antwerp, and the Gentlemen of St Paul's Cathedral.
In 2020 Nicholas will be retiring from UWA so we invite you to join us for a special Lunchtime Concert featuring works written by Nicholas and performed by students and staff of the Conservatorium

A jam-packed program of stimulating performances and events in 2020 showcases the immense talent of our young emerging artists and their mentors, along with celebrated alumni, and national and internationally recognised guest artists. From workshops and lectures to intimate chamber performances and large-scale collaborations, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Guitar Odyssey
Join us for this exciting free concert as talented young performers from the UWA Conservatorium take listeners on a journey exploring the variety and depth of the classical guitar repertoire. From the solo lute works of J.S Bach to the Australian premiere of Mayako Kubo's avant-garde Atem Pause for guitar quartet, listeners will be treated to familiar favourites and delighted by the unexpected.

Calling all Brass players and enthusiasts! Join us at the UWA Conservatorium of Music on 31 October for an exciting day of performances, workshops and clinics led by some of WA’s finest performers and educators!
Featuring:Jenna Smith (trumpet - WASO), Rob Gladstones (horn – WASO), Alan Lourens (euphonium - UWA), Paul De Cinque (trumpet - UWA), Peter Younghusband (trombone - IMSS)
Whether you’re studying trumpet at University, have just started learning Euphonium at school or have been playing trombone in your local brass band for 40 years, this day is for you!
Emphasis of the day will be on performing, you’ll have the opportunity to work on technique and sound in instrumental workshops and masterclasses, learn how to make the most of your practice time and find out how best to look after your instruments. You’ll work on some pieces in groups, before coming together to perform these in a fun concert at the end of the day!
