In the World Percussion Carnival, Head of Percussion Louise Devenish will lead 3 ensembles in a lively performance of traditional Zimbabwean, Zulu and West African music!

The Percussion Fiesta will feature over 80 students, performing pieces from film and TV, Pop and Rock favourites as well as more traditional African melodies in the culmination of their semester's work!

Delivered by the UWA Business School’s MBA Director, the webinar includes information on the study options available, the unique benefits of our courses, and tailoring the program to suit your interests and goals. At the end of the 30-minute presentation, you will have the opportunity to have your individual questions answered.

The aim of this course is to introduce you to basic statistics. It will cover descriptive statistics (means and standard deviations); data exploration; basic categorical data analysis; simple linear regression and basic analysis of variance (ANOVA). The statistical package SPSS will be used to illustrate the ideas demonstrated. The course will be held in a computer laboratory allowing participants to immediately apply the material covered through a series of practical examples.

R is a free and extremely powerful language and software environment for statistical computing, data analysis, and graphics. The course is designed for those who have no experience with R, but have a basic understanding of statistics. Those without this experience are encouraged to attend the Introductory Statistics course first.

This course covers techniques that can be used to analyse data with continuous and categorical variables. The course will begin with simple linear regression and then proceed with approaches that can be used with more than two variables such as multiple regression. ANOVA with interactions and blocking will also be covered. The course will end with techniques that address the analysis of binary or ordinal variables.

-Presenting data for a single variable: Including an introduction to histograms, box plots, and bar graphs

-Visualisation of two or more variables: Including an introduction to scatterplots, pairs plots, parallel coordinate plot and variable-width stack bar charts

-Other plots and maps: Including a brief introduction to plots for time series, bubble plots and more

-Data Ink: Essential parts of a graphic, Tufte’s Data-Ink ratio and how to increase it

-Colour and perception: Colour palettes, preattentive features

-An introduction to ggplot2

Forecasting is required in many situations: deciding whether to build another power generation planting the next five years requires forecasts of future demand; scheduling staff in a call centre next week requires forecasts of call volume; stocking an inventory requires forecasts of stock requirements. Forecasts can be required several years in advance (for the case of capital investments), or only a few minutes beforehand (for telecommunication routing). Whatever the circumstances or time horizons involved, forecasting is an important aid in effective and efficient planning.
