Guitarist Colin Davin has emerged as one of today’s most dynamic artists, he is the newly appointed Director of Guitar Studies and Associate Professor of Guitar at Shenandoah Conservatory. He previously served as Co-Head of the guitar department at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and on the faculty of the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory.

In demand for his insights in masterclasses and lectures, Davin has four times been a guest teacher at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music in Kabul, Afghanistan.

In this fascinating lecture, gain a unique insight into recent Afghan history and its effects on music and the arts, looking specifically at the resurgence of musical life after 9/11 and the founding of the Afghanistan National Institute of Music. He’ll discuss the ongoing challenges, successes, and stories from his experience teaching there.

Lecture presented as part of the Perth International Classical Guitar Festival 2023. Davin joins us as an Institute of Advanced Studies Visiting Artist.
