EVENT: UWA Music presents UWA Day of Percussion
|
|
Led by some Australia’s finest percussionists, the UWA Day of Percussion is jam packed with masterclasses, workshops and performances for percussionists of all ages and skill levels.
UWA’s Chair of Percussion Dr Paul Tanner, will lead our junior and intermediate participants in African marimba ensembles, and work with our seniors on hand-drumming and mallet skills;
Brian Maloney, Principal Percussionist of the WA Symphony Orchestra, will polish everybody’s orchestral and snare drum techniques; Catherine Betts and Joshua Webster (Kaboom Percussion) will create fun music on buckets with our juniors and djembés with our intermediates; and Dr Daniel Susnjar will work with our intermediate and senior participants on their drum kit skills!
After our classes, we come together to perform a Samba Batucada, as well as our djembés, African marimbas, and buckets. To round the day off, students are invited to stay for a chat and delectable Conservatorium BBQ!
