Join us to hear different perspectives on issues of concern to the LGBTQI+ community in a series of presentations followed by a panel discussion.
Chaired by Liberty Cramer, Chair of UWA’s Inclusion and Diversity Committee.
Presenters include:
· Anna Kimpton, Head of UWA Pride Department in the Student Guild.
Anna will provide a current perspective on the use of language and identity terms in Australian culture to stigmatise the LGBTQIA+ community.
· Dr John Terry, Clinical Director of UWA Medical Centre.
A GP for over 25 years, Dr John Terry has worked in Psychiatry, Travel and Emergency Medicine. His practice has afforded extensive experience in working with health challenges of the people of the LGBTQI+ community.
· Aidan Ricciardo, Lecturer in the UWA Law School with interests in the intersection between evidence law and health/medicine.
Aidan will explore the law of bodily autonomy as it affects trans and intersex young people, providing an account of how it has changed over time and how it might reform further in the future.
· June Lowe, Board member GRAI (GLBTI Rights in Ageing Inc).
June will discuss ‘The invisibility conundrum’; invisibility that bedevils the life experience of LGBTI + elders.
