Friday Talk: Same-sex handholding and the Song of Songs in the art of Simeon Solomon (1840-1905) Other events...
Visitors are invited to join us for a Friday Talk by Dr Duc Dau; 'Same-sex handholding and the Song of Songs in the art of Simeon Solomon (1840-1905)' Dr Duc Dau, an Honorary Research Fellow in English and Literary Studies at The University of Western Australia, will explore Solomon’s homoerotic religious art by focusing on the hand as the instrument associated with touch, and on touch as the sense associated with love. Through visual echoes of handholding, Solomon demonstrates that love moves beyond the confines of heteronormativity and religious dogmatism to embrace heterogeneity and sacred homoeroticism. Campus Partner: English and Literary Studies, UWA School of Humanities.

Please note: in keeping with the University's guidelines, space is limited for this event and registration is required. Hand sanitiser will be available at the door and we ask that visitors observe social distancing.
