Robert Loucks is an igneous petrologist and hydrothermal geochemist who, together with his students and colleagues, has published many experimental and field-based analytical studies in leading research journals. His principal research interests in recent years have been chemical distinctions between copper- and gold-ore-forming arc magmas relative to barren arc magmas, and the relation of those chemical distinctions to variations of tectonic setting and stress regime along convergent
plate margins. Robert Loucks obtained his PhD from Harvard University in 1984, and in 2009 he joined the Centre for Exploration Targeting at the University of Western Australia.
