The Isabelle Lake Memorial Lecture is an annual collaboration between the Equal Opportunity Commission of Western Australia and the University of Western Australia to honour the work and achievements of the late Ms Isabelle Lake, a young trans rights activist, former employee of the Commission, and a University of Western Australia student.
These lectures aim to honour Ms Lake’s work and draw attention to the issues faced by transsexual, transgender, intersex and gender diverse people.
The 2018 lecture takes place on IDAHOBIT (International day against homophobia, biphobia, intersexism and transphobia) and will be given by Cr Tony Briffa, who will speak about her life experiences as an intersex person.
After the lecture, Cr Briffa is looking forward to interacting with the audience with a Q&A session.
