Archaeology Seminar : Stylistic Changes and Chronological Sequences in Tibetan Rock Art |

Whilst the major concentrations of Chinese rock art are becoming increasingly well-researched, the rock art of the Tibetan Autonomous Region remains under-explored. Surveys by Yushu Museum staff from 2013 to 2016 have revealed a large number of new rock art sites, particularly along the Tongtianhe River basin. In 2017, I was privileged to visit some of these sites as part of an International Forum group meeting to assess the significance of the finds. In this paper I will discuss the rock art of the area and its implications for creating a local and regional rock art chronology.
