Visit UWA from 4-8 September for UWA Research Week when we showcase UWA research and its impact on local and global communities.
On Monday 4 September we kick off Research Week with a series of free events hosted in the Research Week marquee, situated on Great Court, behind Winthrop Hall.
No registration is required for these events so make sure you come along and enjoy the atmosphere. There will even be food trucks nearby and free coffee postcards to collect, just to keep you fuelled and talking about research!
MONDAY 4 SEPT in the marquee:
. 9.45am: Welcome to Country by Professor Len Collard. Join us for this very special start to the day.
. 10-11am: Murujuga: Caring for Country. We are excited to welcome Elders and Rangers from the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation (Burrup Peninsula) who are presenting this talk along with Prof Jo McDonald. Don't miss this opportunity to hear about their culture and their stories.
. 11.30am-1.00pm the 2 Norty Broz Shamsta and Jamahl from Noongar Radio will be broadcasting live from the marquee. They are a fun and lively duo and will be interviewing some of our special guests as well as some UWA researchers. Be part of the audience!
. 1.30-2pm: Tjaabi: Songs from the Pilbara. Aboriginal performer, Patrick Churnside will be performing Tjaabi, sung poetry from the Pilbara. Don't miss this unique experience.
. 2-3.30pm: Science on the Edge: new discoveries, challenges and opportunities with the SKA. This talk is hosted by Professor Peter Quinn and is sure to draw a crowd.
. 9am-4pm: The Virtual Plant Cell: exploring cell science through virtual reality will be running throughout the day inside the marquee. You can try VR and meet the scientists.
Be part of the audience and enjoy the atmosphere in what will be the start of a mammoth week of events. We will see you there!
