The Australian-China Centre for Transcultural Studies (ACTS), Beijing Foreign Studies University and The University of Western Australia invite you to engage in the critical issues and perspectives in a Globalised World at the China in Australia Symposium on the 25 November.
Scholars from across disciplines and countries converge at UWA to critically interrogate the ways in which Australia and China engage with each other and shape intellectual life – both in the past and the present.
Presenters will examine how Australia and China manage their complex, multifaceted relationship from economic, political, cultural, anthropological and pedagogical perspectives.
The symposium seeks to move away from the methodological nationalism approach typified by the ‘engagement and dialogue’ narrative of Australia-China relations and instead emphasise the multiple and plural ways in which ‘China’ has shaped, influenced and been resisted.
