The Perth USAsia Centre invites you to a panel discussion to launch the Partnership for Change: Australia-China Joint Economic Report 2016, with Professor Peter Drysdale, Emeritus Professor of Economics in the Crawford School of Public Policy at The Australian National University and The Hon. Dr Mike Nahan MLA, Treasurer of Western Australia. Australia’s merchandise and services trade with China now accounts for more than quarter of Australia’s overall trade. For many Australian businesses, the Chinese market represents and enormous potential growth market, and for China Australia has been a reliable provider of high quality products from iron ore to education. However, adjustments will have to be made in the existing relationship between the two countries, as China’s growth model and policy focus changes and new opportunities emerge for both countries. This report seeks to provide common reference points on how Australia and China can conduct their relationship when facing these inevitable uncertainties and changes.
