Media exposure has often been seen as a way for terrorists to distribute their message, create fear and recruit followers. In fact, the media coverage terrorist organisations receive free of charge rivals the advertising budgets of some of the world's largest corporations. But does media attention encourage terrorist attacks?
Dr Jetter, from the UWA Business School, analysed 61,132 attack days in 201 countries, examining the link between increased New York Times coverage and additional terrorist attacks.
Join Dr Jetter at this special CBD lunch-time event to hear his findings and recommendations on how the media should cover terrorism.
A light lunch will be provided.
