Identity and Representation in Contemporary Art : A conversation with multi-media artist Khaled Sabsabi Other events...
The UWA Cultural Precinct and the Institute of Advanced Studies are pleased to invite you to a conversation with multi-media artist Khaled Sabsabi.

How do we curate diverse stories, voices and languages of so-called marginalised people in Australian society? This Conversation with Khaled Sabsabi will be followed by a Q&A with Hamida Novakovich and will discuss the complexities of curating diverse identities that cross religious, racial, gendered and geographical boundaries.

Khaled Sabsabi is an artist and community arts practitioner who specialises in multimedia and installation. Born in Tripoli, Lebanon, Sabsabi migrated with his family to Australia in 1978, to settle in western Sydney, a predominantly migrant area. Since the late 1980s he has worked with communities to create and develop art projects that explore people and places from broad social, political and ideological spectrums. His work reflects the complex nature of cultural and identity, characterised by an ever changing contingent nature.
