A public lecture by Tim Langlois and Jordan Goetze, UWA Oceans Institute
No-take marine reserves have been recognised to provide benefits to biodiversity conservation, science, education and tourism. They have also been suggested as a tool for fisheries management where data is limited or intense overfishing is occurring.
This lecture will discuss theoretical and applied examples where no-take areas or targeted fisheries closures (for certain species) have played a role to inform ecological research and are predicted to increase the resilience of stocks to overfishing.
This lecture is presented by the Institute of Advanced Studies and the UWA Oceans Institute.
