EU Climate Diplomacy Action Day : Informed debate with the aim of limiting global temperature rises to below two degrees Other events...
Expert panel discussion on climate change including Professor Malcolm McCulloch from the UWA Oceans Institute and the School of Earth and Environment In the lead-up to a major UN climate change conference in Paris later this year, Perth will host an expert panel discussion featuring Norwegian Ambassador, Unni Klovstad. What's being billed as a Global Diplomacy Day is just one of nine such events held simultaneously in cities around Australia, and numerous others in cities around the world. It's been jointly organised by seven European embassies in Australia, as part of an international effort to encourage informed debate and pursue the aim limiting global temperature rises to below two degrees. The evening will also feature the Australian premiere of the documentary film The Climate Blueprint, which brings to life the history of what is arguably one of the planet's most important issues: global climate negotiations. The expert panel discussion and film launch are set against a backdrop of European government commitments to achieve at least a 40 per cent reduction of domestic greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (based on 1990 levels).
