Hologic DXA Training Program : Latest technology Hologic 2D scanning densitometer Horizon W for measuring body composition Other events...
You are invited to attend a training session supported by the School of Medicine and Pharmacology, SCGH Unit outlining the use of the latest technology Hologic 2D scanning densitometer the Horizon W. This is the most sophisticated machine for measuring body composition in the world. Body composition assessment including excess fat obesity, and lack of muscle sarcopenia have joined bone structure and strength as important areas of research. This machine can assess body composition, including bone density and lateral scanning for fracture detection and aortic calcification. This technology has been validated as the gold standard non-invasive test of skeletal strength. In addition its ability to detect lean tissue which includes muscle and fat including central adiposity address two other important research areas. All applications are low radiation and thus potentially easy to add on to clinical studies. There is no charge for this course however places are limited so first come first served.
