Professor Kile obtained his PhD at WEHI in 2001, and after pursuing postdoctoral studies at Baylor College of Medicine in the USA, returned to the institute in 2004, establishing an independent research group in 2008. The Kile lab is focused on the molecular regulation of blood cell formation and function, with a particular interest in the role cell death pathways play in blood cell disorders.
Professor Kile was awarded the prestigious Science Minister's Prize for Life Scientist of the Year in 2010, the 2013 Gottschalk Medal for Research in the Medical Sciences from the Australian Academy of Science, and most recently the 2015 Merck Millipore Research Medal from the Australian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
