Vladimir Belogolovsky will discuss ideas and projects examined in his latest book Conversations with Architects in the Age of Celebrity (DOM 2015). The publication presents interviews with 30 architects, which Belogolovsky conducted in the framework of his long-term, international activities as independent curator and author. The frame surrounding today's avant-garde masters has eclipsed merely professional circles and reached the conscience of the wide general public. The iconic work has attracted so much attention over the last decade in the mass media that it is often referred to as Starchitecture. The following questions will be explored: What is architecture? What is the role of an architect? What is the place for architectural criticism in the age of pluralism, pure praise, and advertising? When was Starchitecture born and when did it die, or did it? Is there common ground in contemporary architecture? What is goal of architecture?
