Andrea di Robilant will look at how the Venetian Republic managed its rich and complex relationship with the Muslim world in the course of three centuries of trade, diplomacy and war, through the perspective of one powerful Venetian family: the Zens.
Andrea di Robilant is an Italian journalist and writer. He studied history and politics at Columbia University and spent many years in the United States as a correspondent for the Italian dailies La Repubblica and La Stampa. He is the author of several books of non-fiction, including the international best-seller A Venetian Affair and the more recent Chasing the Rose: an Adventure in the Venetian Countryside. He teaches journalism and creative writing at John Cabot University in Rome, where he lives with his wife and two sons.
