The White Devil is set in a Renaissance Italian court society of devious Dukes, decadent Counts, murderous malcontents, and corrupt Cardinals. Through this misogynistic milieu moves Webster’s protagonist, the Venetian lady, Vittoria Corombona, seeking opportunities for advancement wherever she can find them, whether through love, lust, adultery, or murder. But she is not the only ‘white devil’ (or hypocrite) in this morally corrupt and homicidal society. This fast-paced production, directed by Steve Chinna, is presented by UWA theatre students as part of their course, Making Theatre and Performance. $25 full - $18 concession.
