Meditation : An introduction to meditation in the Christian tradition Other events...
Most forms of meditation seek to develop the discipline and practice of attention. The distinctive aim of Christian meditation is to let go of the busy preoccupations of the ego and, in the way of Jesus, attend to the gracious presence of God in the depth of silence. Because ‘God is love’, communion with God’s Spirit transforms one’s life and relationships. Many people who meditate report greater clarity and compassion, for both self and others.

This session will introduce an approach to meditation which originates from the third century desert monks of Egypt. In the 20th century it was recovered for lay people by Benedictine Monks, John Main & Laurence Freeman, and the World Community for Christian Meditation (www.wccm.org)

We invite you to join Stuart Fenner for a short talk and experience of Christian Meditation. Stuart is passionate about meditation and its potential as a path to spiritual transformation for all people regardless of their beliefs. Stuart has practised Meditation in the Christian tradition for over twenty years and has been teaching and leading meditation groups for the past decade. He has attended numerous national and international conferences run by the World Community for Christian Meditation and is on the Committee of the WA Christian Meditation Community.
