You are cordially invited by The Centre for Muslim States and Societies, UWA
to meet Langston Hues, author of "Modest Street Fashion".
Langston Hues is an international Muslim photographer currently traveling the world for his upcoming book Modest Street Fashion which explores Muslim women’s fashion, style and street wear across the globe. This book is a unique effort to showcase the individualism, style and cosmopolitanism not often associated with dominant images of Muslim women.
Modest Street Fashion features Muslim ‘Fashionistas’, ‘Turbanistas’ and Bloggers made famous through online social media, such as The Hijab Blogger, Dina Tokiyo and Ascia.
This global project also commemorates the emerging culture of modest street style of the everyday with Langston visiting cities such as London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Toronto, Houston, Miami and Washington D.C. Modest Street Fashion is the first book to visually document this ever-growing international trend of Muslim women’s fashion, style and identity as tied with Islamic practices and ideas of modesty.
