This workshop is designed for new or experienced supervisors who are, or intend to, supervise international Higher Degree Research (HDR) students. This workshop grounded in the Graduate Research School's Policies and Rules. Supervisors of Honours and Postgraduate Coursework students are also welcome to attend.
Workshop Description:
- Roles and responsibilities of the supervisor of international research students.
- Establishing & building effective working relationships with international students.
- Support & resources for international student supervision.
This workshop aims to assist participants to:
- develop a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a supervisor of international students at UWA.
- develop productive working relationships with international students, to identify the key qualities of good supervisors and good supervision, and to discuss practical suggestions on how to handle the difficulties that can arise in the supervisor-international student relationship.
- discuss issues relating to international scholarships and sponsorships.
- explore support for supervisors and international students.
