On Friday 30 August 2013, UWA will be participating for the first time in Wear It Purple Day, to show support for rainbow (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Intersex, Queer) young people.
Wear It Purple is a Sydney-based organisation which is run entirely by university and high school students. As stated on their website http://wearitpurple.org/wear-it-purple-day/
Wear it Purple has a simple message: you have the right to be proud of who you are. Sexuality or gender identity does not change this.
The idea is simple: wear it purple if you agree.
Please consider wearing something purple on Friday to show your support. WIP particularly encourages sending photos of the day to their social media sites such as https://www.facebook.com/wearitpurple. This carries the message further, and last year reached over 700,000 people. (Please note: you must have permission from all people in the photo before sending.)
