Professor Sijbrands is the Head of the Pharmacology, Vascular and Metabolic Diseases Section, within the Department of Internal Medicine at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He is the current Raine Visiting Professor for 2013. His research interests include genetic epidemiology, etiology of inherited cardiovascular disorders, familial dyslipidemias (screening, severity, efficacy of treatment), type 2 diabetes, vascular function and pharmacotherapy, particularly new lipid-lowering therapies.
