Perth is one of the cities taking part in the global ‘Big Data Week’ (BDW) - www.bigdataweek.com/perth
To support BDW, iVEC@UWA has planned various events that include presentations, networking opportunities and activities which will look at some of the challenges and opportunities presented by the growth of Big Data.
As part of BDW, Professor Euan Harvey from the Oceans Institute, UWA, will provide a presentation entitled “Underwater stereo-video and tools for managing big marine data”.
This presentation will be followed by a demonstration of a big data tool entitled CATAMI, which will show how marine data (images and video) can be accessed and annotated for key features. Further information from Project CATAMI is available here – http://catami-australia.blogspot.com.au
The event is free, and requires no prior knowledge. It will be followed by a light lunch. However registration is required for catering purposes.
