John McGeachie shares his first-hand experiences of working in Papua New Guinea during the 60s and 70s in a talk at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery on Friday 10 May 2013.

As a dental surgeon, John worked on patrols to remote regions of the Eastern Highlands in PNG.

John will share his stories and showcase images from his travels, including a detailed account from one of this most fascinating experiences in the very rugged and remote Jumi Valley, which was rarely visited by outsiders at the time.

This talk accompanies the current exhibition of the Berndt Museum - Through the Kunai Grass: Portraits of the New Guinea Highlands 1951 - 53.
