WORKSHOP: Writing and publishing in scientific journals

Writing is the one common skill that everyone who indulges in research must have, yet it is the one that in which they often feel the least confident. And effective scientifc writing is a lot more than applying the rules that you may or may not have learned in the English clases you had at school.

In this one-day workshop, you will learn a new way of thinking about your research that ensures that it is focussed logically and scientifically and that you communicate that focus to the reader. You will find writing is easier - even fun - and, above all, your readers will be able to enjoy and understand exactly what you want to thell them.

If you have data or ideas for your scientific paper and don't know how to convert them into effective wriitng there will be some opportunity for you to air them and see how these principles can be successful in helping you. If you believe you have specific problems with scientific writing, you will be invited to express them early on and have them dealt with during the day.
