Youth Mental Health First Aid-Edition 2 : For those who wish to have a better understanding mental health disorders in youth and how to provide support Other events...
The 14 hour training package is for adults who work with youth or want to know how to assist young people experiencing mental health problems. Participants will have a better understanding of mental health disorders, and learn how to recognise and provide support to young people who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. Research has found that many people have a lack of knowledge on how to deal effectively with mental health issues. Poor understanding of anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, depression, eating disorders and psychosis has serious implications in that individuals suffering from symptoms may delay seeking appropriate treatment. Lack of knowledge can also contribute significantly towards stigma and discrimination of people with mental health disorders. This course has been tailored to our University setting, with a focus on student mental health issues, however parents of youth will also benefit from participating in the course. 2 full days. Participants must be available to attend the entire course.
