PUBLIC LECTURE: Museums in the Global World
|
|
A public lecture by Neil MacGregor, OM, Director of the British Museum.
Presented by The Western Australian Museum in association with The University of Western Australia.
The great cities of the world are global cities where citizens engage with the history, traditions and identities of people from all over the world: people who share their cities as residents, commuters or visitors. Museums can and should play a major part in making the idea of global citizenship a reality. They offer a public forum where different ways of thinking and doing can be presented and discussed, and where great objects from all around the globe can be exchanged and exhibited.
This lecture is part of the exciting new exhibit Extraordinary Stories from the British Museum, a unique exhibition made just for Western Australia.
The lecture is free but bookings are essential on 9427 2877 or by visiting: http://www.museum.wa.gov.au/extraordinary-stories/events
