PERFORMANCE: School of Music Concert: Artistry! 6 - Culmination
|
|
Every year, a magical experience is created when the outstanding ability, cohesive intensity and youthful passion of the UWA School of Music students and staff combine and celebrate the power of music.
Thanks to the generosity of the Vose family, the annual Vose Memorial Prize for Music provides the UWA School of Music with the opportunity to select one outstanding senior performance student for the prestigious Vose Prize.
In this special concert audiences will hear outstanding emerging artists perform a movement of their chosen concerto live onstage with the UWA Orchestra conducted by Alan Lourens. This concert is a celebration of excellence and is fittingly opened with a fanfare by an exceptional student composer.
Every year, the Vose finalists dazzle the audience with their amazing talents and this year, while the judges deliberate, the People’s Choice Award will give everyone a chance to vote for their favourite performance.
In the second half, votes are counted as the Winthrop Singers under the direction of Nicholas Bannan perform Copland’s In the Beginning. Led by Winthrop Professor Paul Wright, the UWA Orchestra will enchant even the most disenchanted concertgoer.
Make sure you make time in your calendar for this stunning showcase!
