Achieving More whilst Using Less: towards a Viable Future : The 2011 George Seddon Lecture Other events...
Professor Lyn Beazley, Chief Scientist of Western Australia will present the 2011 George Seddon Lecture - "Achieving More whilst Using Less: towards a Viable Future".

In the past our planet seemed to provide an inexhaustible source of water, food, energy reserves and minerals; it also seemed able to absorb the waste and pollution humanity produced. Now the scenario is very different. With the world’s population approaching 9 billion and WA to exceed 5 million by 2056, we must work to establish a viable and sustainable future.

George Seddon, a true polymath, was well aware that a crucial aspect would be Western Australia’s capacity in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

This annual lecture honours the life and work of Professor George Seddon (1927-2007).
