The Relevancy of the Greens in the New Paradigm: Lecture by Senator Scott Ludlam : UWA Politics Club presents the first part of the State Magazine Lecture Series with WA Senator Scott Ludlam Other events...
As both the perceived and actual influence of the Greens grows in the 21st century, there has been renewed interest in their policies and ideologies. Some critics of the party have claimed the Greens' policies do not reflect the values of the Australian population and are merely a 'protest party'. Others believe they now play an integral role in the governance of our nation and represent an alternative to the two major parties. Scott Ludlam will discuss the 'Relevancy of the Greens in the New Paradigm'. Scott Ludlam has been a Senator for Western Australia since 2008, and is one of five Greens Senators in the current Federal Parliament. Prior to entering Parliament, he worked as a graphic designer. Scott Ludlam is an advocate for Australia switching to a low carbon economy, and believes that nuclear power is not a viable alternate energy source.
