In 1992 Dr Chuxia Deng was awarded his PhD by The University of Utah, supervised by Professor Mario Capecchi, Winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Dr Deng is now Senior Investigator and Chief of the Mammalian Genetics Section, Genetics of Development and Disease Branch of NIDDK
Dr Deng's research focuses on FGF/FGF receptor, TGFb/SMADs signaling, members of type III hostone deacetylases, and BRCA1 tumor suppressor gene. He is internationally acknowledged for his expertise in the field of gene targeting, oncology, epigenetics, metabolism, developmental biology, and other areas of biological sciences. He is the author or co-author of over 260 papers, over 40 of which are published in Cell, Nature, Science and their sister journals. These publications have been cited over 18,000 citations with an H-index of 73.
