There will be a special Plant Biology seminar this Monday 18th April at 4pm in the BAYLISS Building Lecture Theatre (G33).
Emeritus Professor Winslow Briggs, from Carnegie Institution for Science, Stanford, will present his extensive research into "Phototropin LOV domains - serving many organisms to detect blue light signals". See summary below.
Summary: Brief review of phototropin properties; Phototropin-interacting proteins; Other LOV domain proteins.
Winslow Briggs has been studying light perception mechanisms in plants for 5 decades and is one of the fathers of photobiology. His research has now taken him into light perception mechanisms in bacteria and their role in disease.
