Agriculture is highly significant to the WA economy and landscape.
UWA's Future Farm is an 'ideal' farm for 2050 - when the world population is expected to exceed 9 billion, providing the double challenge of feeding 50% more people without destroying the planet. There is no greater issue facing humanity.
The 'ideal' farm is economically self-sustaining, produces 'clean, green and ethical' food and fibre, and makes a positive contribution to the state and rural community. The
UWA Future Farm also aims to strengthen links between food producers and city inhabitants, and between the university research community and the industry it serves.
