LECTURE: The Ancient Towers of Sifnos
Sifnos, a Greek island in the Aegean, is dotted with the remains of more than fifty towers built in various times so that a watch could be kept over the sea, and signals could be sent from one part of the island to another. Dr Ashton has made a special study of these, and has also become a respected friend of the Sifnian community. He will speak of the towers, and of a visit that he made to the island last year.
This lecture is open to the public, and no enrolment is required.
