Informed by Mike's human ethics and regulatory experience at the Mayo Clinic and with the NIH. Professor Mike Joyner received his MD from the University of Arizona
and completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at the Mayo Graduate
School of Medicine. Mike is one of North America's foremost human
integrative biologists, having published >200 peer reviewed papers in the
highest profile journals of cardiovascular medicine and physiology (H
index>35). His contribution via keynote lectures and invited scholarly
reviews has been tremendous. He has delivered the Michael DeBurgh
Daly lecture for the Physiological Society (UK), the Wolffe lecture for
the American College of Sports Medicine, the Streeten Lecture of the
American Autonomic Society, the Spinoza Lecture in the Netherlands
and The John T Shepherd Lecture in Japan. In 2011 he will deliver
the distinguished Adolf Lecture at the Experimental Biology meeting. Mike's research interests
are diverse, but primarily focus on adaptation of the cardiovascular system and autonomic
reflexes to physical stress, including the influence of gender and age. Apart from his status as an
active researcher, Mike has developed interests in research management,
