Informed by Mike's human ethics and regulatory experience at the Mayo Clinic and with the NIH. Professor Mike Joyner received his MD from the University of Arizona and completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. Mike is one of North America's foremost human integrative biologists, having published >200 peer reviewed papers in the highest profile journals of cardiovascular medicine and physiology (H index>35). His contribution via keynote lectures and invited scholarly reviews has been tremendous. He has delivered the Michael DeBurgh Daly lecture for the Physiological Society (UK), the Wolffe lecture for the American College of Sports Medicine, the Streeten Lecture of the American Autonomic Society, the Spinoza Lecture in the Netherlands and The John T Shepherd Lecture in Japan. In 2011 he will deliver the distinguished Adolf Lecture at the Experimental Biology meeting. Mike's research interests are diverse, but primarily focus on adaptation of the cardiovascular system and autonomic reflexes to physical stress, including the influence of gender and age.
