This workshop aims to introduce what is commonly known as high-school algebra. It is suitable for a wide range of students. In particular, students completing units outside of the School of Mathematics who find that their units require algebraic skills might find this course helpful. It will mainly cover some of the introductory material from MATH0060, in such a way that it bridges the gap between number skills and understanding symbols in mathematics. Each student will be given a set of worksheets to complete. Topics include: terms and expressions, expanding simple brackets, expanding double brackets, factorisation, linear equations.
