SYMPOSIUM: SKMRC Advances in Melanoma Scientific Symposium
|
|
This symposium is open to all clinical and academic researchers and will be an opportunity to hear from some of the world’s experts in Melanoma clinical and academic research. With the 7th Annual International Melanoma Congress being held in Sydney this year, we have been fortunate to lure several internationally esteemed melanoma experts to The West for this event.
Some of the topics covered will include: Stem cells in tissue morphogenesis, signal transduction and tumour development and progression, targeted therapy, expression profiling of melanoma cell lines and tumour tissue, lymphatic mapping and sentinel node biopsy for melanoma, and regional chemotherapy techniques for limb tumours which cannot be treated surgically.
Speakers Include:
Professor Nick Hayward from the QIMR. Nick’s team has been working on scans to map novel melanoma susceptibility genes and to clone and characterise these genes once they have been localised.
Professor John Thompson Director of the Melanoma Institute Australia, whose principal research interests are in the fields of lymphatic mapping and sentinel node biopsy for melanoma, and regional chemotherapy techniques for tumours which cannot be treated surgically.
Professor Meenhard Herlyn from The Wistar Institute in Philadelphia in USA, whose areas of expertise include differentiating stem cells into melanocytes to study the cell microenvironment, cell signalling pathways
in the search for new drug targets and the control of tumour dormancy.
Also attending will be Perth’s top melanoma experts.
CLOSING DATES FOR REGISTRATION ARE MONDAY 25TH OCTOBER 2010!
