Groups and Combinatorics Seminar
Pablo Spiga (UWA)
will speak on
Stabilisers of connected vertex-transitive graphs.
at 1pm Tuesday 5th October in MLR2
Abstract: I will give an overview on the structure and on the size of the stabiliser of a vertex in a symmetric graph. First I will discuss graphs with small valency and present a result generalising a recent theorem of Meierfrankenfeld. Then I study general connected G-vertex-transitive graphs where the group G satisfies some natural conditions (finite quotients of profinite groups with polynomial subgroup growth). All the material in this talk was proved in Perth (apart from a few details which where done on the train ride to Sydney) during my one-year visit, which is shortly coming to an end.
All welcome.
