Phill Schultz (UWA)
will speak on
The subgroup lattice of a rational vector space
at 1pm Tuesday 24th of August in MLR2
Abstract: We all learned that the set of subgroups of a group forms a complete lattice under inclusion, but apart from some tiny examples, we don't really know what this lattice looks like. Even describing large lattices is difficult.
I will describe a general approach to representing some infinite lattices, and use it to describe the lattice of additive subgroups of a finite dimensional rational vector space.
All welcome
