Traditionally, the Opening Ceremony marks the official start of Multicultural Week 2010. Taking place in the UWA Guild Village on Tuesday, October 5th, the Ceremony will run during the common lunch hour from 1 - 2pm.
UWA is situated on indigenous land and accordingly, the Opening Ceremony aims to provide an opportunity to acknowledge, recognise, and appreciate the generosity of UWA’s traditional land owners. With short speeches from the WA Student Aboriginal Corporation Director, the Vice Chancellor for Education, and the MCW Managing Director, the ceremony then proceeds to entertain the crowd with ceremonial dances and performances, along with finger food served throughout the ceremony.
