PUBLIC LECTURE: UWA Albany Skywest Public Lecture
What is a campus cultural precinct and how can it add value to the education of students? A number of leading American universities have recently acknowledged the centrality of the arts in human endeavour and reinforced the importance of the visual and performing arts in fostering their students ability to think imaginatively, to be creative risk-takers and to move gracefully through a world of rapid change.
Plans at the University of Western Australia to introduce the new Future Framework curriculum and to develop a Cultural Precinct, is evidence of a similar commitment to engagement with the arts as fundamental to the education of fully rounded human beings who can contribute to society as it undergoes further transformation. So what will this Cultural Precinct be like, how will it impact on Albany and how will it respond to changing conditions throughout Western Australia, nationally and globally?
