Photographer John Maloney's Botanica exhibition is developed around two major fine art collections of Banksia images: archival prints based on images of banksias that were first collected around the King George Sound, Albany, in 1801 by Robert Brown; and prints based on images collected in the Botany Bay area between 1770 and 1801 and included in the Centennial Collection by Joseph Banks, John White, Luis Nee, Robert Brown and David Nelson.
Professor Ted Snell, director of UWA’s Cultural Precinct, will open the exhibition.
John Maloney, the former Vice Chancellor of Curtin University, has exhibited in Perth and annually at the Barry Stern Galleries in Sydney. His images are held in private, corporate and institutional collections nationally and internationally.
All images are of archival quality (limited edition) printed on canvas in pigment and individual prints will be for sale.
The exhibition is part of the UWA Cultural Precinct’s WINTERArts program and runs from July 2 – August 15.
