Delivering value to citizens: the challenge for Australias Federation : The 2010 Reid Oration Other events...
This year's Reid Oration will be given by Mr Peter Allen, Deputy Dean, Australia and New Zealand School of Government.

The challenges facing Australia have changed significantly since the Federation was created in 1901. Increasingly, the national government is using its dominant role in revenue collection to assert its authority in domains traditionally seen as State responsibilities. This lecture will examine recent examples of reform within the Federation to highlight the benefits and costs of changing roles and responsibilities.

Gordon Reid AC, was a distinguished scholar in the areas of Politics, Public Administration and Comparative Government. He was Professor of Politics for many years at The University of Western Australia as well as serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor. The Reid Oration was established by the Institute of Public Administration Australia (WA Division) in 1991 to honour Professor Gordon Reid’s contribution to public life. The presentation encourages public interest and research into public policy and contemporary thinking of our times; not dissimilar to the work of Professor Gordon Reid.

The Reid family joins the Institute of Public Administration Australia (WA Division) and The University of Western Australia in inviting you to this event.

This is a free public lecture, All Welcome.
