In 2009, Dr Stevens was seconded to the Department of Corrective Services by the Director General of Health to undertake a review of the Prison Health Service. This Service sits within the DCS and provides clinical care to a population of around 5,000 prisoners located in 15 adult prisons and two child detention centres. The Review was completed in mid 2010, and its public release has just been authorized by the Attorney General. This presentation will provide an overview of the health of prisoners in WA and the health care they receive.
