The Introduction to Course Design workshop will be particularly useful for all new lecturers in the Faculty who have started within the last three years. Existing staff with no prior educational training are also encouraged to attend. This one day training session will cover components including a range of pedagogical areas, such as:
Assessment and evaluation;
Teaching approach;
Laboratories; and
Learning objectives.
Staff will be provided the opportunity to work with real engineering course examples, focusing on the following:
What we want students to learn;
Developing user friendly learning outcomes;
How we want students to learn;
Designing motivational interactive classes;
How we assess students, to know they learnt what we wanted them to; and
How we evaluate the whole educational experience.
As the workshop will consider the basic elements of course design, participants are invited to bring with them their own course and assessment designs and unit outlines to work with during the workshop.
