UWA Business School - Public Lecture : The World Mining Industry & the Importance of the Chinese Economy Other events...
Professor Richmond has a rich history in the mining industry, he spent 30 years with Rio Tinto Group, held the position of Managing Director Development, Hamersley Iron and was Deputy Chairman of the Australian Minerals Research Council.

In this lecture he will cover three groups of issues shaping the world mining industry:The extraordinary impact on the demand for most minerals and metals by a quickly growing Chinese economy; The impact of the recession on the industry and its ability for recovery; Look at strategy development within the world's major players and the resultant and likely additional change in the shape and structure of the industry together with an analysis concerning the role of China's essentially domestic metal and mining industry.
